- Kickstart: Try a dealer or user group. Either will be very helpful here.
-
- It is possible, however, that it wants a Workbench disk; if it has Kickstart
- in ROM. Some A1000's were upgraded for this.

-
- The A1000 used a different keyboard than later Amigas. And unfortunately,
- if you can find one new (any type) it isn't likely to be cheaper than the
- A2000 model. Used, OTOH, is a possibility.

-
- A bunch of questions:
-
- First, an A1000 can have 256k for Kickstart, 512k ram for working memory.
- It is possible to get a Kickstart ROM installed in it; several manufacturers
- made them.
-
- The 23 pin RGB is the Amiga standard; the extra pins compared to a 9 (or 15)
- pin connector are for video devices such as Genlocks, DCTV, etc. All that you
- need is a regular 23 to 9 pin cable, which a dealer can get.
-
- The 1902A is RGB digital, and analog is highly recommended. The Amiga only
- supports 16 colors digital, as opposed to 4096 analog.
-
- >Question #3: What are the possibilities for adding a HD?
-
- Used market only, look in comp.sys.amiga.marketplace. A good source for
- things for this machine.
-
- >Question #4: I was also told NOT to connect any devices to the serial port
- >(such as a modem) as it is not standard. is this true? Is the parallel
- >port standard?
-
- You need a custom parallel cable. Serial, I don't recall if there were any
- changes other than reversed gender.
-
- However, it is still possible to buy A1000 cables, from various sources.
- They won't be cheap. Or, with the manuals (which did give the pinouts) you
- could make your own.
-

-
- The A1000 has some very nice features. If you're into video stuff, it has a
- perfectly good RCA video output which can be hooked up to a VCR or TV for
- recording or display.
